AKIRA (アキラ?)

AKIRA (アキラ?) is a 1988 anime film written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo based on his hit manga. The film is set in a futuristic and post-war city, Neo-Tokyo, in 2019. While most of the character designs and basic settings were adapted from the original 2182-page manga epic, the restructured plot of the movie differs considerably from the print version, pruning much of the last half of the manga. The film became a hugely popular cult film and is widely considered to be a landmark in Japanese animation and film.

“ It’s 2019, the world is on the brink of absolute destruction. Tokyo shimmers with tech-noir fetishism, gangs of cyber-punk bikers cruise the sprawl of the post-atomic city and rioting crowds surge under the neon-topped buildings looming a thousand storeys into the sky. Now, old gods return to do battle with Akira and something more than comic book ultra-violence is unleashed. Prepare to enter this astonishing nightmare of hyper-reality created by one of the world’s leading animation directors, Otomo Katsuhiro.”

What is the Apple standard for Wooden Toys ?

In the world of toys, these guys really deliver something pleasing to the eye. Playsam must be one of my favourite toy companies in the world ! Their toys are extremely polished, classic and extremely expensive - but well worth it as a collectors item, or something that your children will keep forever.

This is really something special to spoil them with. Check our website http://www.playstuff.co.za/ for our availble stock.
